Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 19, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is boys basketball seniors CJ Johnson and Nick Lewis-Bresnahan. Both young men were named to the Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s All-Conference teams. CJ was named to the first team after leading the Titans in scoring and rebounds per game. Nick was an Honorable Mention team member, a nice bounce back from missing his entire junior year due to injury.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is boys basketball players, senior Abel Wilson and junior Hunter Hall. Both young men were named to the Lincoln Trail Conference’s All-Conference teams. Abel was a first-teamer, with Hunter Hall making the Honorable Mention team. Along being successful on the court, they were just as outstanding off the court. They both earned a spot on the LTC’s All-Academic team, as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is boys senior track and field athlete, Tyler Neumann. Tyler got his final track season started off on the right foot, literally. He high jumped his way to an 8th place finish at the Galesburg Silver Streak Final Chance Meet at Monmouth College. Tyler’s height of 5′-9 3/4″ was less than 2 inches from qualifying for the Illinois Prep Top Times Meet.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is girls senior soccer player, Juniper Schwartzman. Juniper was the winning goal keeper in the Streak’s season opening victory over the Orion/Sherrard/Ridgewood co-op. She pitched a shutout in a 2-0 win.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is boys freshman track and field athlete, Carter Stroot. What a great start to a high school track career, as Carter posted top-10 finishes in the 60 and 400 meter dashes in the Lincoln Trail Conference Indoor Meet. He followed that up with a 13th place finish in the 200 meter dash in the Galesburg Silver Streak Final Chance Meet, a meet that included schools from Class 1A to 3A.
