April showers bring May flowers will be true for Central Illinois this year.

Ed Shimon with the National Weather Service in Lincoln indicates current outlooks are projecting above-normal precipitation over the next few weeks that will lead to a cooler period towards the middle of the month.

Shimon says to expect cooler-than-normal temperatures for the remainder of the month, with a warmup at the end of the month to start May.
