An impressive freshman season earned Carl Sandburg College softball slugger Maleaha Nagel a spot on the All-Region IV Division II District B Second Team.

Nagel, a first baseman and Abingdon-Avon High School product, was voted to the team by district coaches after leading the Chargers this spring in home runs and RBIs.

In 140 plate appearances over 46 games, the left-handed-hitting Nagel swatted 10 homers, drove in 45 and led Sandburg with a .689 slugging percentage and 1.082 OPS. With 13 doubles on the year, she tied for the team lead with 23 extra-base hits.

Nagel finished the season with a .364 batting average, .393 on-base percentage, 25 runs and was second on the team with 91 total bases.

In the Chargers’ May 2 doubleheader at Black Hawk, Nagel went a combined 6 for 7 with three doubles, a walk, two runs scored and four RBIs.
