Daniel L. Tansey, 75, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 9:08 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at his home.

He was born on July 14, 1947 in Burlington, IA, the son of Leroy and Shirley (Icenogle) Tansey.  Dan was raised and educated in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1965.  He then later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Iowa Wesleyan College.

Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. 

He married Patricia E. Shaw on July 12, 1978 in Monmouth, IL and she survives. 

Dan retired from Maytag in Galesburg after 25 years as the Senior Buyer for the company.  He enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with his friends and family. 

Surviving Dan is his wife, Patricia Tansey of Monmouth, IL; two daughters, Amy (Scott) Kellogg of Chicago, IL, Tricia Tansey of Monmouth, IL; three grandchildren, Thomas Kellogg, Ginevra Kellogg and Kennedy Stocking; one brother, Rick Tansey of Burlington, IA; three brothers-in-law, Tom Shaw of Monmouth, IL, David (Theresa) Shaw of Indiana, Scott (Anna) Shaw of Alabama; and his fur baby, Sam. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sean Tansey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dawn & Lew Shaw; one sister, Karen Weicher; three brothers, Larry Tansey, Mike Tansey, Gary Tansey; sisters-in-law, Sue Tansey, Patty Tansey, Linda Tansey, and several other relatives.

A gathering of family & friends will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Military Honors will be present at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the gathering.  Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
