Monmouth College softball senior pitcher Abby Leber (Tremont, Illinois) was named All-Midwest Conference Second Team. This marks a second consecutive honor for Leber who was on the MWC First Team in 2022.
Leber finished the 2023 season 6-12 with a 2.25 ERA. She struck out 100 batters in 115 innings while making 20 starts. Leber had 10 complete games and two shutouts this season. She finished second in the Midwest Conference in ERA, innings and strikeouts while ranking top five in complete games and shutouts. In addition to her exploits as a pitcher this season, the senior hit .296 with a home run, four doubles and 10 RBI.
Leber’s season put her in the top 15 in six different categories in Monmouth single-season history. She ranks third in starts with 20, eighth in strikeouts and also in the top 15 for complete games, ERA, innings pitched and appearances. Leber joined Liz Hippen and Shelly Orwig as the only pitchers in Monmouth history with multiple 100 strikeout seasons.
For her career, Leber finished with 18 wins, 26 complete games, a 3.00 ERA and 281 strikeouts. She ranks third on the career list with 281 strikeouts, tied for sixth in shutouts (5) and starts (52). Leber also ranks eighth in innings (310.2) and games pitched (57) and 10th in wins (18).
