Mark Allen Reed, 67, of Galesburg, Illinois, died 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Mark was born July 13, 1955 in Streator, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Eileen Mae (Henderson) Reed. They both preceded him in death.

After high school, Mark attended and graduated from Illinois Valley Community College. He went on to have a 30 plus year career at Ameren, retiring in 2022. Mark married Christina Kay Naslund on December 28, 2007. She survives as do his three sons, Don (Jessica) Reed of Peoria, Illinois, Chad (Andrea) Reed of Galesburg, and Brant Reed of Fall Brook, California; fourteen grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Whitney Greene of Kewanee, Illinois and Cody (Megan) Greene of Knoxville. Mark is also survived by three brothers, Kevin (Stephanie) Reed, Marty (Vicky) Reed, and David (Cathy) Reed all of Streator; and his close friend Corey Campagna, whom Mark mentored for many years.

Mark loved all sports and excelled while in high school. He continued to play competitive softball for many years. He loved to fish and garden. But most of all, Mark will be remembered for his happy and positive attitude, a smile that could light up a room and his heart of gold. All of Mark’s endearing qualities gave him a long reach that touched many people throughout his all but too short life.

Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial donations in Mark’s memory may be made to Tina Reed to help her with the many medical costs incurred. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthoms.com.
