Monmouth College’s Boley Finishes 11th in Discus at NCAA Track & Field National Championships

MONMOUTH, ILL. (05/25/2023) Monmouth College sophomore Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) finished in 11th place in the discus at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Rochester, New York. Boley’s season best of 44.55m qualified in 19th position out of 22 competitors and she improved by eight spots to finish 11th on Thursday.

Boley threw in Flight 1 and opened the competition with a throw of 42.79m. She was in second place after round one and threw even further, 43.16m in her second throw. Boley’s final throw of the flight was 37.29m and she finished in third place out of the 11 competitors in her flight.

The second flight contained the top 11 qualifiers and the top nine qualified for the finals. Seven of those throwers passed Boley on their first or second throw to knock her out of the top nine. Boley finished 11th overall, missing the finals by 0.47m.

Boley finished her sophomore season at Monmouth with three individual Midwest Conference titles. She won the discus and the shot put outdoors while also winning the shot put indoors. She was named MWC Indoor Field Performer of the Year and won the MWC Performer of the Week award four times this season. Boley was also named All-Region by the USTFCCCA last week.
