Monmouth-Roseville Titan Baseball Still Searching for Consistency as Postseason Nears

Story by Prairie Communications intern Kadin Rogers

The Monmouth-Roseville varsity baseball team has been busy since last Wednesday. The Titans first took on Orion at home for their senior day game last Thursday, ultimately falling in a close 7-6 contest with the Chargers. M-R then traveled to Sterling to take on Newman Central Catholic, losing 5-2 to a very tough Comets ballclub. The Titans rebounded on Monday with an impressive 4-1 win over the (21-5) Sherrard Tigers. The most recent game for the Titans was a road trip to Knoxville yesterday, where Monmouth-Roseville would drop a back and forth game in extra innings to the Blue Bullets 8-7. The recent stretch for the Titans brings them to 13-9-1 overall on the season, with two more regular season games at Sherrard on Thursday, and at Morrison on Friday. With wins over both teams, and at least one win by Morrison over Orion on Thursday, the Titans would have a share of the Three Rivers Conference West Division title. With regional play beginning next week, Head Coach Jordan Ball detailed what he wants to see out of his team in these last two regular season contests.

Monmouth-Roseville’s first game of regional baseball will be at home on Monday against 8th seeded Illini West, as the Titans compete as the 6th seed in the Macomb 2A regional. For the full interview with Coach Ball, visit the Sports Podcast section.
