Phillip E. “Phil” Morris, 65, of Galesburg, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at home.

He was born April 3, 1958, in Galesburg, the son of Floyd and Mary Louise (Tracy) Morris. He married Cindy Brown on June 26, 1976, in East Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Cindy; two daughters, Heather (Dan) Johnson of Galesburg and Lyndsey (Robert Collinson-Morris) Morris of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Dawson (Lindsey Lester) Johnson, Levi Stoneking, Seth Morris, Noah Morris, and Katy Morris; two honorary great grandchildren; and siblings, Floyd “Smokey” (Mary Frymire) Morris of Galesburg, Lawrence (Brenda) Morris of Galesburg, Sarah (Kevin Rose) Kasparie of Galesburg, Sue (Daniel) Sargeant of Galesburg, and Carol Bohanan of Gilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Morris; his mother and stepfather, Louise and Chuck Foster; a grandson, Dakota L. Johnson on January 30, 2007; and siblings, Roger Morris, Rick Morris, Joyce Mackey, Judy Davis, and Leon Morris.

Phil had worked in construction for many years before becoming a semi driver. Most recently before retirement, he worked in the warehouse at Blick Art Materials. Phil enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, family, and his loyal dog, Henry.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. A family burial and celebration of life is being planned for June. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
