Through the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Adopt A Legislator program, which was developed in 2001, the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau was paired this year with Representative Jenn Ladisch Douglass from the 45th District in DuPage County, shares Manager Gina Sanberg:

“We previously had a Zoom meeting with her, but we were able to have her come visit Warren and Henderson Counties. It was a wonderful visit. We expect and still do expect her to come visit us during harvest, but she was doing some road trips throughout the state and wanted to come visit us now, so we wanted to welcome her with open arms. We did a couple farm tours with her and had a really good opportunity to meet with her in person and to really connect with her. We are looking forward to maintaining that relationship and being able to share our story about agriculture of a rural community and talk with her about similarities and differences to what she sees in her 45th District.”

The goal of the Adopt A Legislator program is to educate urban legislators about agriculture and rural life while also helping members better understand the needs and concerns of an urban district.
