Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Kronsted, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, died 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
Jackie was born January 15, 1945 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the daughter of Walter John and Johanna Helen (Dudas) Kiefer. She married Terry Lee Kronsted on May 30, 1964 in Ottawa, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2012.
Jackie is survived by one nephew, Walter Ibach of South Elgin, Illinois; one great nephew, Ryan Ibach of South Elgin, Illinois; and her beloved dog, Bailey. Along with her husband and parents, Jackie was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Lucia and Linda Ibach.
Jackie graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and later graduated from Western Illinois University. She worked at OMC Gale Products for 9 years until its closure. She went on to work at Admiral/Maytag for 21 years until her retirement.
Jackie was a longtime active member of the OAKS Senior Center, serving as their treasurer from 2002 until 2016. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and painting China, especially Pysanky Eggs. Jackie also loved to be around her home, gardening, canning, and cooking. She volunteered at the Galesburg Welcome Center for several years.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
