Story by Kadin Rogers

With the college basketball season not too far away in 2023, anticipation for a new era for the Monmouth College women’s basketball team is setting in. Back in May, Monmouth hired former Division-III standout player Michelle DeCoud to head up the Lady Fighting Scots program. In addition to her phenomenal playing career at the University of Dallas, DeCoud had spent the past few years assistant coaching at Hastings University in Nebraska, before getting the head coaching job at Monmouth. Coach DeCoud spoke about her 2023-2024 roster on Saturday morning, stating that this group of Scots players is “hungry”, and that she is ready to see how well they perform this season.

The Scots are coming off a season in which they finished (6-10) in the Midwest Conference. Monmouth was (10-15) overall, their first under .500 season since the 2017-2018 school year.
