Mrs. Betty Darlyene Anderson, 94, passed away at 11:39 am Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Seminary Manor.

Betty was born January 27, 1929, in Fulton County, Illinois on the family farm, the daughter of Archie Lloyd and Iva Priscilla (Aringdale) Schrodt. She married Earl Erick Anderson on September 6, 1949, in Fulton County. After 54 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on December 10, 2003.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry (Vickie) Anderson of York, Pennsylvania and Jerry (Robin) Anderson of Enid, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Glenn Schrodt and her grandson, Michael Anderson.

Betty graduated from Avon High School in 1946 and worked her first job as a clerk for OT Johnson. She married the love of her life in 1949 and began growing her family. She was blessed to be able to stay at home and care for her husband and two boys. She later worked for Knox Laundry. Betty had a passion for quilting and was very proud of her sewing and the projects she crocheted. She was an avid genealogist researching for over seventy-five years. Betty was a collector of glasswork and enjoyed antiques. From an early age Betty was known for her gardening skills, planting her vegetable garden and flower garden.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am Tuesday at the chapel. The burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the OSF Hospice.
