Mr. Arthur B. “Art” Harrison, 88, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 11:40 pm Sunday at the Courtyard Estates of Knoxville.

Art was born February 20, 1935, in Galesburg, the son of Arthur J. and Delia (Hurt) Harrison. He married the love of his life, Beverly Durbin on July 2, 1960, in Galesburg. After 62 years of marriage, she preceded him in death January 27, 2022.

Art is survived by his son, James “Jim” (Nikki) Harrison of Galesburg; his daughter, Julie (Mark) Maltese of Carol Stream, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Maltese and Chase and Bayleigh Harrison. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Jim Harrison Eddie Harrison and his sister, Audrey Sandall.

Art graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955. He worked as an phone technician for the Admiral Maytag Corporation, retiring as a foreman in 1999.

Art took great pride in working in his yard. He loved to travel from the east to west coast with Colorado being one of his favorite vacation spots. Art enjoyed fishing, sightseeing and hanging out with his dog, Barney.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Friday, December 15, 2023, at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
