Mrs. C. Marlene Johnson, 86, passed away at 8:40 pm, Monday, December 11, 2023, at Knox County Nursing Home.

Marlene was born August 6, 1937, to Roy and Flora (Barron) Palmer in Viola, Illinois. In 1956, Marlene married Warren Leroy Crose in Aledo, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1982. On June 28, 1987, she would go on to marry Dale Murray in Alexis, Illinois, who later preceded her in death. She later married Richard Johnson January 18, 2001; he also preceded her in death.

Marlene is survived by a son, David L. (Brenda) Crose of Abingdon, Illinois, and two daughters, Debra (Brian) Lenning of Moline, Illinois, and Cathy (Dennis) Ackman of Oneida, Illinois. Also surviving Marlene is her brother, Marvin (Delores) Palmer of Buffalo Prairie; brother-in-law, Gary Cunningham and sister-in-law, Beverly Palmer both of Aledo, Illinois, ten grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Donald Gene Crose, and two siblings, Ronald Palmer and Carol Cunningham.

In her youth, Marlene attended Viola High School before joining the work force. She worked for Knox College in Food Services. Marlene volunteered and served on the board of directors for the Oak Senior Center. In her free time, Marlene loved playing cards and bingo. She was also a devout member of the First Church of Nazarene.

Cremation will be accorded. Services for Marlene will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 18, 2023, at the First Church of Nazarene with Pastor Jade Rogers officiating. A time for fellowship will follow the services with a luncheon. Memorial contributions in Marlene’s name may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the First Church of the Nazarene. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to assist her family with arrangements.
