Hazel E. Weaver; 92, of Macomb, IL passed away at 1:58 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL surrounded by her children. She was born July 30, 1931 in Lincoln, IL to Forrest and Mabel Fulscher. She married Eldon L. Weaver on June 20, 1954. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2001.
Surviving are three children, Gregory (Carol) Weaver of Ocean Shores, WA; Marcia Coney of Carpentersville, IL; and Michael (Joy) Weaver of Macomb, IL; four grandchildren, Matthew (Katie Bergquist) Coney; Natasha (Matt) Walbert; Adam Coney; and Peyton Weaver; two great grandchildren, Evelyn Jo Walbert, Amelia Walbert, and one expected in April. Also surviving, one sister, Vivian Hauter; one brother-in-law, Robert Hauter; one sister-in-law, Georgie Fulscher; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, William Coney; three brothers, Harold Fulscher, Henry Fulscher, and Robert Fulscher.
Hazel graduated as Salutatorian from Kilbourne Township High School in 1950. She graduated from Graham Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She was a registered nurse for 40 years. She worked at Graham Hospital, Schmitt Memorial Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, McDonough District Hospital, Colchester Nursing Center, The Elms Nursing Home, and Sprucewood Healthcare Center retiring in 1993. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb, IL where she helped with the rummage sale every year. She retired to Rogers, AR in 2001 and was active in the VFW Women’s Auxilary serving as President for several years. She moved back to Macomb in 2011 to be closer to family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, taking trips, spending time with family, birdwatching, and putting puzzles together.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1212 West Calhoun, Macomb, Illinois 61455 with Pastor’s Mellie Momo and Scott Grulke officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Mound Township northeast of Macomb.
