Story by Kadin Rogers

There is just a little under a month left in the season for the Monmouth College baseball and softball teams. In recent action, the Scots softball team picked up several wins over this past weekend including a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Ripon, then a split with Lawrence that saw Monmouth win the first game 5-4 in extra innings. After their weekend contests, the Scots softball team now sits at 5-22 on the season, with their next scheduled contest set for Wednesday against Illinois College in a doubleheader.

As for Monmouth baseball, they did not get Midwest Conference games in over the weekend, with their last MWC contests coming in the form of a doubleheader against Knox college on Wednesday. The Scots would end up improving their overall record to 11-12 by splitting against the Prairie Fire with a 4-3 loss in game one, then a 12-2 win in game 2.

As both the softball and baseball teams look towards this week of games, here is Monmouth College Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva with what the schedule looks like for this upcoming week.

With potential heavy rainstorms in the forecast tonight and tomorrow, both teams have moved their schedule around to try their best to avoid cancellations. After today’s game against Cornell, the Scots baseball team is next in action on Saturday against Ripon, while the softball team picks up on Wednesday against Illinois College.
