The Monmouth College Fighting Scots head into their bye week after picking up back-to-back wins in Midwest Conference play.

Monmouth improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference with a dominant 56-7 win over Ripon on Saturday. The Scots scored touchdowns on each of their first eight drives and finished with 583 yards of offense.

Nate Wrublik led the way on the ground with 219 yards and three touchdowns, including a 92-yard score. Wrublik was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week for the second straight week after also earning the honor following the win over Cornell.

The Scots are off this weekend, but Head Coach Chad Braun says they are not treating it like a week off.

“We don’t call it a bye week; we call it a work week. And we’re gonna work this week. We’re gonna try and get better. That’s our goal. Every time we step on the field, we got to try and get better. This football team, they’re playing at a really good level right now, but we want to even be playing better coming off the bye because that’ll be a big game. Luther is undefeated in conference, they got a big game against Illinois College this week. But they are going to come in to our place with a lot of confidence.”

Monmouth will return to action October 10th when they host new Midwest Conference member Luther College for Homecoming. Kickoff between the Scots and Norse is scheduled for 2 PM at April Zorn Memorial Stadium.
