Scots Enjoy Success at Thursday Night Track Meet

The Monmouth College track and field teams hosted Knox and Illinois College in the Thursday Night Special after the scheduled meet for Friday at Illinois Wesleyan was canceled due to forecasted inclement weather.

Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the shot put with a career-best throw of 16.02m, the 11th best throw in Monmouth history. Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) was second at 14.13m and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) took fourth.

Toberman won the discus at 46.49m with Brady Bledsoe (Wataga, Illinois) in third and Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) in fourth .Toberman also won the hammer at 56.46m with Orwig in third. Bryant won the javelin at 44.30m with Colton Hutson (Mt. Pleasant, Iowa) in second at 43.39m

Mikey Eiker (Galesburg, Illinois) won both the high jump at 1.80m and the long jump at 6.37m. Morse was second in the high jump, just ahead of Joey Twardowski (Mark, Illinois) and Damarian Stark (Roscoe, Illinois) was fourth in the long jump in his first collegiate track meet.

Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) won the 400m race in 50.82, just ahead of Patrick Curry Jr, (Chicago, Illinois) at 51.77. Da’Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) won the 200m in 22.94 with Outlaw second, Bryson Thomas (Galesburg, Illinois) third and Lane Grice (East Galesburg, Illinois) fourth.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the 1500m in 4″09.36. Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois), Riley Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) and Peter Soutsos (Highland Park, Illinois) went 2-3-4 in the 400m hurdles.

The men’s 4x100m relay team of Thomas, Patterson, Curry and Grice won with a time of 43.70. The 3x400m relay team of Riley Bernas, Newton, Grice and Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) won the final race of the day in 3:34.41.

Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the shot put with a career-best throw of 13.49m, the eighth-best throw in Monmouth history. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took second at 12.94m and Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) was fourth with a season-best 11.16.

Boley also won the discus at 43.91m, a season best, and the hammer at 48.64m. Braun took third in the discus and fourth in the hammer. Gibbons took third in the javelin with a new PR and Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was third in the hammer and fourth in the javelin.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.26m with Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) in fourth. Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) won the triple jump with Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) in second and Emma Crofton (Neponset, Illinois) in third. Crofton was also third in the long jump at 5.03m.

On the track, Rusk won the 200m race with a season best time of 26.52. Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois) was second in 27.41 while Tayler Raska (Galesburg, Illinois) took third and Nicole Hoyer (Montgomery, Illinois) was fourth.

The 4x100m relay team of Rusk, Moore-Bell, Hoyer and Raska won in a time of 50.72 seconds. The 4x400m relay team of Rusk, Moore-Bell, Eaton and Hoyer won in 4:28.71.

Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) took third in the 1500m in 5:32.14 just ahead of Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) in 5:33.36


NEXT UP:

Boley will compete in the discus at 11 a.m. Friday at the prestigious Drake Relays. The Scots are next in action at home on Saturday, May 4 with the planned Fighting Scot Invitational. The 6-team meet begins at 10:30 a.m. with Monmouth seniors being honored at 11:45 a.m.
