Sentencing For Man Convicted In Death Of Knox Co. Deputy Delayed

Sentencing is delayed for the man convicted of killing a Knox County Deputy in 2022. Daylon Richardson was originally scheduled to be sentenced on May 24th. However, his attorneys objected this week to a mandatory life sentence and raised issues with some victim impact statements made at the trial. A hearing regarding the statements will be held June 10th and the new sentencing hearing will be held August 9th. Richardson was found guilty of murder in February. Prosecutors say he was being chased by law enforcement when he hit and killed Deputy Sheriff Nick Weist, who was setting up spike strips at Highway 150 and 150th Avenue in Henry County.
