Tonya (Toni) Kim Smith, 60, of Greeley, CO, passed away peacefully at home Friday May 31st, 2024 surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with cancer. Toni was born in Galesburg, IL and graduated from Galesburg Senior High School. She continued her education at Aims Community College in Greeley, CO, earning her Associates Degree in radiology. For over 30 years, Toni was a caring CAT Scan Tech, focused on her patients. She retired from the Medical Center of the Rockies, in Loveland, CO after 17 years.

Toni gave her free time willingly and often. She spent many years and hours involved with the Special Olympics basketball, supporting her son Matty and hundreds of other young athletes. She also enjoyed her time as a bartender at the Greeley Stampede for many years. Toni was an avid animal lover. Dogs, cats and horses were a special love of hers. She was the co- author of a pending publication entitled “What Not To Do On A Farm” with her sister Tammy (Bam). Toni loved palm trees and beaches.

Toni is survived by her mother Jean Utzinger and stepfather Art of Oquawka, IL; sons Mathew Smith of Greeley, CO and Cole Smith of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Bailey (husband Sid) Sargent and their children Avie and Rowan, all of Sierra Vista, AZ. Her numerous siblings: Raedean Britt of Galesburg, IL; Tracy Redfern of Galesburg, IL; Teana (husband Jack) Wall of Whiskeytown, CA; Joyce Graffouliere of Dunedin, FL; Sandy (husband Kerry) Davis of Ely, MN and SGM(R) Tammy “Bam” (friend Linda) Coon of Clearwater, FL. Toni had so many special Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, and Friends whom she loved dearly. Toni was preceded in death by her father (W. Dean Coon) of East Galesburg, IL and her brother Robert Furniss of Ely, MN and his wife Nancy.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 at the Greeley (Garden City), CO VFW. An additional celebration will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday June 29th, 2024 in Oquawka, IL at Mama’s Place.
