Patrick S. Vancil, 76, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 4:10 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at his home.

He was born on March 16, 1948 in Moline, IL, the son of Louis and Wanda (Cole) Vancil.  Pat was raised and educated in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966.  He then graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  He later graduated from St. Ambrose College with his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Pat proudly served in the United States Airforce; he was stationed in Iceland. 

Pat married Lynn Miller on February 9, 1980 in Rock Island, IL; she survives. 

Pat worked JI Case in administration for over 38 years until his retirement.  After retiring he drove a school bus for United School District #304.  Pat enjoyed spending time in the Ozarks and boating.  He was a dedicated martial arts student for many years, achieving his black belt.  Pat liked being outdoors and enjoyed golfing, skiing, and working in his yard.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

Surviving Pat is his wife, Lynn Vancil of Monmouth, IL; his children, Mestina (Travis) Stecher of Galesburg, IL, Justin (Sara) Vancil of Monmouth, IL; his grandchildren, Parker Stecher, Carson Stecher, Cora Vancil, and Jamesyn Vancil.  Also surviving are his sisters, Peggy (Mike) Tidwell of Moline, IL, Madeline (Shawn Rideout) Luloff of Moline, IL; one brother, Dave Vancil of Anna Marie Island, FL. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Mijon Hesser.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  No visitation or services are planned per his wishes.  Memorials can be made to the Patrick Vancil Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
