Thomas H. “Pops” Albert, 66, of Baton Rouge, LA, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

He was born on July 22, 1958 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Cecil and Elizabeth “Libby” J. (Ludington) Albert. He was raised and educated in Cameron and Monmouth.

Thomas joined the United States Navy in 1975 and proudly served for 6 ½ years.

Thomas married Barbara Burress in 1979 and had one daughter, Shawna. He later married Christine Thornton on December 19, 1989 in Dowagiac, MI and they had two children, Thomas II and Christopher.

Thomas wore many hats and was a jack of all trades. he worked as a plumber for 25 years; he then was a property manager for an apartment complex for many years. He also welded and drove a school bus for Head Start. Thomas enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics, especially bowling. He liked hunting, fishing, and any outdoor activities. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was always involved in all their lives, and was always active in all their extracurricular activities. He was an avid Chicago Cubs & Bears fan.

Surviving Thomas is his wife, Christine Albert of Baton Rouge, LA; his children, Shawna (Randy) Albert-Borovich of Lakeland, FL, Thomas H. “Red” (Felicia) Albert, II of Dowagiac, MI, Christopher “Toph” (Nicole) Albert of Newaygo, MI; daughter in-law, Ashley Albert of South Bend, IN; his grandchildren, (Shawna & Randy Borovich) Micheal J. (Andrea) Pickell, Jr., Catrina Borovich, Hayley Borovich, Richard Terry, Alyssya “Skippy” Borovich, Thomas Terry, Joseph Borovich, Brandi (Tyrone) White, (Thomas “Red” & Felica) Alexander Simons, Natalie Albert, (Christopher “Toph” Albert & Nicole) Ryder Morey, Ryan Albert, Serenity Russell, (Ashley Albert) Gavin Albert, Levi Drury, Landin Albert, Emma Drury; his great grandchildren, Rowen Pickell, Feyra Pickell, Tyrone McKinnon, Astrid Simons; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his siblings, Terry (Donna) Albert of Rock Island, IL, , Jim (Donna) Albert of Monmouth, IL, John (Sherry) Albert of Lebanon, MO, Steve (Catrina) Albert of Monmouth, IL, Debbie (Kenny Fye) Teel of Monmouth, IL, Diane Brown of Monmouth, IL, Pat (Don) Kindhart of Good Hope, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marshall W. Albert, Dwayne Albert of Cumberland, MD; three sisters, Judith “Judy” R. Richardson, Linda J. Barker, and Barbara Albert.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life has begun at Jim Albert’s Home (910 West 4th Ave, Monmouth, IL) The family will be receiving friends at the home openly until Noon on Monday, August 5, 2024. Military Honors will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Special Olympics of Louisiana. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
