Rebecca L. Dowell, 74, of London Mills, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, Illinois. She was born April 25, 1950, in Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Zenas and Norma (Norville) Dowell. She was raised and educated in Roseville graduating in 1968. She later attended the Cottage School of Nursing in Galesburg and Bradley University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother; Russ (Carol) Dowell of London Mills; sister-in-law, Linda Dowell of London Mills; nephews, Tim (Heidi) Dowell, David Dowell, Ryan (Matt) Dowell; nieces, Lisa (Josh) Shultz and Jessie (Kyle) Dowell; great-nieces and nephews, Haley, Paris, Trey, Payton, Dawson, Chase, Zelda and Jaxon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dan Dowell.

Rebecca worked for Cottage Hospital in Galesburg for 45 years in the Chemical Dependency and Skilled Care departments, retiring in 2016. She was a member of the Women’s Club in London Mills for many years. She enjoyed collecting angels, gardening, collecting and watching hummingbirds and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded with private family graveside services to be held. A Celebration of Rebecca’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the London Mills Fire Department. Interment will be in the East Midway Cemetery, London Mills. Memorial contributions may be made to the London Mills Fire and Ambulance Service.  Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
