Beverly J. Harler, 89, of Galesburg, died at 9:24 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, in OSF Richard Owens Hospice House in Peoria, following a short illness.

She was born April 26, 1935, at home on the farm in Fairview, the daughter of John and Martha (Sherman) Rotz. She married Dr. A.J. “Jack” Harler on June 10, 1956, in Maquon. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2012, after more than 55 years of marriage.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Bill) Hayes and Becky (Jim) Clark, both of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Townsend of Huntsville, Alabama, Lindsey (Josh) Corbin of Galesburg, and John Henry Clark of Galesburg; three great grandchildren, Payton, Audrey, and Benjamin; and a brother-in-law, Alan (Chuck Kalick) Harler of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a graduate of Valley High School. She was a devoted homemaker and mother. Beverly was the manager of the Cottage Hospital Gift Shop for many years. She was a longtime, active member of First United Methodist Church and had been involved with the FIRSTS Older Adult Ministry program there. Beverly enjoyed helping and traveling with Jack during their years of breeding, showing, and judging Shetland Sheepdogs.

Beverly was an avid reader. She enjoyed cross stitch and word search puzzles. She was a fan of Men’s College Basketball, and she was often found watching the Hallmark Channel.

Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with family friend, Larry Wright, officiating. Burial will be in Maquon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a favorite charity of Beverly’s.
