Mrs. Shirley A. Riggs, 82, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 1:20 pm Friday, November 22, 2024, at her home.

Shirley was born September 15, 1942, in Galesburg, the daughter of Harry D. and Sara V. (Poole) Morrison. She married Dale W. Riggs on July 3, 1960, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2010.

Shirley is survived by her children, David Riggs, Julie (Terry) Mackey and Michele Riggs all of Galesburg; her brother, Gary (Rose) Morrison of Oquawka, Illinois; his sister, Patty Morrison of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Steven German, Sr.), Sarah, Jessica and Jared Riggs and eight great grandchildren, Steven, Jr. Michele, Aiden, Camryn, Kaylee, Tate, Gabe and Naomi. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Shirley had a kind soul, working as a technician for the former Galesburg Research Hospital for fifteen years and later for the former Zellers Mental Hospital in Peoria for fifteen years until its closure in 2002. Shirley was very close to her grandchildren, attending any and all of their events. Her favorite pastime was watching Wheel of Fortune.

Visitation will be 10:00–11:00 am Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Hinchlifff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am at the chapel. The burial will be in Henderson Cemetery. Memorials may be made either the Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
