Mrs. L. Doreen Sanford, 94, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 5:20 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

Doreen was born January 21, 1930 in Abingdon, Illinois the daughter of Otto and Gerda (Ahlstrand) Murk. She married Warren Sanford on August 16, 1952 in Abingdon. With that union she had a daughter, Shyrl (Dan) Courtright of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, six sisters, and her son Stanley Sanford.

Doreen graduated from Abingdon High School in 1947 and attended Augustana Nursery in Chicago. She worked as an assembler for Gale Products for 28 years retiring in 1986. She later worked as a sales representative for Barrington Distributors for 7 years. She last worked as a companion sitter for in-home assistance for 8 years. Doreen was a member of the Faith Bible Church and served her time volunteering at the Galesburg Rescue Mission.

Cremation will be accorded. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made to the Faith Bible Church and Galesburg Rescue Mission.
