Linda M. Shimmin, 67, of Little York, IL passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, IL.

Linda was born August 13, 1957 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Dale W. and Darlene M. (Myers) Barman. She was raised and educated in Little York, graduating from Yorkwood High School in 1975 and later Carl Sandburg College in 1977. 

Linda married Thomas W. Shimmin in Little York on November 5, 1977 and he passed away October 4, 2015.

She worked as a beautician at Merrills in Monmouth, a waitress at The York Café/Beanies, Little York Post Office and later was an on-site manager at Warren Achievement in Monmouth for over 20 years, retiring in 2022. 

Linda was a member of the Little Cedar United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, watching women’s basketball and spending time with her family and attending the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana. She also enjoyed going on family vacations and attending her granddaughters’ numerous activities. 

Survivors include her children, Spencer Shimmin and Amber (Matt) Hawk both of Little York, Christy Shimmin of Galesburg and Tyler (Melody) Shimmin of Burlington, IA; her grandchildren, Shelby Powers and Ava Powers along with numerous additional grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sisters, Tina Barman and Susan (Doug) Moulden both of Little York; several nephews; and her fur-companion, Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Linda M. Shimmin Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth, IL.
