Christine “Chris” F. Youngquist, 72, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident.

She was born on May 1, 1952 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Edward and Maxine (Rendleman) Fritz. Chris was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1970. She later graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Elementary Education.

Chris married Steven Youngquist on April 5, 1985 in Galesburg, IL, they were married nearly 40 years. He passed away on January 30, 2025.

She was an elementary teacher for over 30 years, teaching in Galesburg at Steele Elementary School and the Monmouth-Roseville District, retiring in 2014. Chris loved spending time with her family, especially chasing around her grandchildren. She enjoyed being active and playing golf. She liked to cook for her family and enjoyed reading a good book. Chris had a strong Christian faith. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her garden.

Surviving Chris are her children, Zack (Jaclyn) Youngquist of Monmouth, IL, Hannah (Ben) Dingman of Rock Island, IL, Carissa (Preston) Powell of Overland Park, KS; her grandchildren, Charlotte Youngquist, Maxwell Dingman, Archer Powell, Vaeyah Dingman, Eloise Powell; her mother-in-law, Willadene Youngquist of Monmouth; three sisters-in-law, Janet Collopy of Williamsfield, Ronadene (Bill) Bogener of Rio, IL, and Annie Christian of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are aunts, cousins, numerous nieces & nephews, and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Randy Fritz; and brother-in-law, Gary Christian.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. A Gathering of Family & Friends will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Lake Bracken Country Club Clubhouse (1036 Sunny Knoll Dr., Galesburg, IL). Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Steve and Chris Youngquist Memorial Fund, and the children will disburse the contributions to causes that were near and dear to Chris’ heart.
