Helen E. Hull, age 88, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 1:45 pm on Friday January 24, 2025 at Alure of Lake Story in Galesburg, Illinois. Helen was born on June 1, 1936 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of Martin P. and Lela M. McNamee. She was raised in Gladstone where she attended school and graduated from G & O High School in 1954. After High School Helen served her country entering the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. Helen was a member of Ana Vicus of the Special Forces during her service.  Helen married Raymond D. ” Tiny ” Hull on August 4, 1956 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her on November 9, 2021. Helen was first employed as a phone operator for General Telephone in Monmouth. She then worked as a seamstress at Formfit company also in Monmouth. After that she was a sales clerk at Spurgeons department store in Monmouth. She then was a Disabled Support Person for Warren Achievement in Monmouth. Helen also assisted Lane Evans a liaison in the V A transport for veterans locally and she also was a cashier for County Market Grocery Store until her retirement in 2001. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church of Monmouth and the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 and the Ladies Auxillary 24/4 of the legion post. Helen has sown and created many scarves for the Elvis Tribute in later years. She is a “die hard’ Chicago Cubs fan and also a big fan of Caitlin Clark of Indiana.  Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Bowman of Kirkwood, Illinois, and two sons, William Hull of Galesburg, Illinois and Al Hull and Erica of Galesburg, Illinois.   There are three grandchildren, Lexi Hull, Zach Hull, and Jeremy Hull and Sheri, three great grandchildren, Kenzie, Kayla (Andrew), and Kassidi. There are six great, great grandchildren also surviving. Helen’s sisters also survive, Ruth Ann Keever, Vicki Keever, and Alice Keever. A number of nieces and nephews also are surviving.  She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband “Tiny”, son in law, Gaylord, two brothers, and two sisters.

A gathering and visitation is planned on Thursday January 30th from Noon to 2:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois in charge of her care. Interment with Military Honors is planned at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery following their time at the funeral home. Memorial funds have been established for either Marion B Fletcher Post 136 or Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
