Mr. Jack Edmund Oakley, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at 9:20 am Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home with his wife, Dorothy by his side.

Jack was born July 30, 1935, in Galesburg, the son of Roy Samuel and Clara Annetta (Gauges) Oakley. He married Dorothy Eileen Anderson on July 8, 1956, in Alexis, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy of Galesburg; his children, Julia A. (Thomas) Komaniecki of Somonauk, Illinois and John E. (Connie) Oakley of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his grandson, Dylan Oakley. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Steven in 1960, a brother, Gene E. Oakley and his grandson, Logan in 2022.

Jack graduated from Galesburg High School in 1953. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated from Elkhart University in Elkhart, Indiana. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958.

Jack worked as a manager for over eleven years for the former Montgomery Ward Department Store but was mostly known as the owner and operator of Titletown Video Store for twenty years, retiring in 2005. Jack was proud to be a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and was a member of the Jaycees in Kewanee. Jack was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, serving on church council and as an usher.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Pamela Marolla officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Knox County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, OSF Hospice, Galesburg or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting Jack’s family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
