The Monmouth College Fighting Scots men’s basketball team has won five of their last six Midwest Conference games, including a 3-game winning streak. That has propelled the Scots to first place all by themselves in the league at (7-2). The Scots are a half game up on Cornell and a full game ahead of Grinnell and Illinois College. As always, the top-four teams in the 9-team league will advance to the end of the regular season conference championship tournament and play for a spot in the National Tournament. Even though Monmouth has built in a little cushion for the second half of the conference season, the final seven conference games won’t be easy, says Monmouth College Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva.

The Scots are back in action on Tuesday night on the road at Lake Forest and will take a short trip to Galesburg for a Saturday afternoon game against arch-rival Knox College. We’ll have the game against Knox on Saturday on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM. We’ll also have the Monmouth vs. Knox women’s game on WRAM beforehand. The women’s game tips off at 1:00, followed immediately by the men’s game. Our pregame show for the women’s game will start at 12:40. You can hear both games on the radio, live online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 1330 WRAM app for your smartphone or tablet.
