Monmouth City Council approved funding for three different public works projects to take place throughout Monmouth, explains Mayor Rod Davies:
“We received a $2 million grant through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the construction of a water treatment plant. We need another 1 million gallons of water every day to keep up with demand and public safety. Council approved the low bid for five different pieces of equipment, totaling just under $1.4 million. We have to connect that new water treatment plant to the brand-new water main that is there on West Harlem Avenue and we want to get that done before we start road construction in the spring. We received a low bid for that just over $35,000. The third item, we are beginning our lead service line replacement project. The City received just under $3 million in a forgivable loan, which becomes a grant for us. We are going to start in phase one, which is the southeast and southwest parts of town. Advanced Plumbing was the low bid for that.”
Mayor Davies informs City Council also sent out bids for the demolition of two properties, 924 South First and 223 – 225 South 6th Street, which were awarded to Brown Excavating and Demolition.
