Monday, January 20th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A day honoring King’s legacy of equality, service, and connection. Focusing on service, students at Carl Sandburg College will be out and about in the community, shares Coordinator of Diversity and Inclusion Anthony Law:

“There are a lot of things going on that day, but one of the things we have always put an emphasis on is Martin Luther King was a servant leader and talked about service to the community. So, even though that is what we do anyway, our goal that day is to find as many service projects as we can and go out and do those. That is the lesson in the day. We talk about Dr. King and his legacy, but on that day, I want to put that into action.”

Law advises many organizations on the Sandburg campus that focus on community service and just this last year Men of Distinction and Women of Character celebrated their 10th Anniversary. Meanwhile, on average 50 International students attend Sandburg and the student body represents 25 countries.
