Mrs. Judith L. Rylander, 78, of Galesburg, formerly of Oneida, Illinois passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

Judy was born April 16, 1946, in Galesburg, the daughter of Glen W. and Geneva V. (Ashley) Lundeen. She married Charles “Chuck” Rylander. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2006.

She is survived by her children, Randy Rylander of Charlottesville, Virginia and Stacy (Shawn) Johnson of Victoria, Illinois; her brother, Frederick (Pauline) Lundeen of Florida; three grandchildren, Courtney (René) Sage, Amber Johnson and Seth Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, her parents, her brother and his wife, George and Janet Lundeen and her four sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Ross Pitman, Anna and Roy Steck, Eva and Harold Weber and Joyce and Bill Rednour.

Judy graduated from Galesburg High School in 1964 and later completed her nursing degree at Carl Sandburg College as an LPN. She worked nights and weekends briefly for OSF St. Mary Medical Center. While living in the Oneida area she continued caring for others by volunteering as an EMT for Oneida. Judy worked in administration for the former Galesburg Research Hospital and the former Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria and retired from the State of Illinois Department of Rehabilitation as a Rehab case coordinator.

Judy believed in giving back to her community by volunteering at OSF St. Mary Medical Center and serving on the Greig Memorial Library board. She also enjoyed attending the Knox-Galesburg Symphony. Judy was a faithful member of Altona Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00-11:00 am Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Services will follow at the chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Peter Beckman officiating. The burial will be in Oneida Cemetery.
