Michael Hugh Pence, age 61, of rural Lomax, Illinois went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 25, 1964 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Raymond Hugh and Diane Lee (Davis) Pence.  On July 6, 1991, he married Carla Ann Cox  in Dallas City, Illinois.

Mike had a passion for farming, and did so his whole life.  He was employed by Case-New Holland in Burlington, Iowa for 26 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, mushroom hunting, and duck, turkey, deer, and dove hunting.  Mike was heavily involved in Ducks Unlimited for 25 years.  He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He was a dedicated friend and appreciated a hard days work, seldom sitting down to relax.  Mike enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River on the Dyna-Hugh.  Above all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchildren – eating, playing corn hole, and making lasting memories.  Mike was a member of Crossroads Community Church where he was able to grow closer to Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Carla, his mother, Diane Pence of Stronghurst, three sons, Curtis (Deidre) Ott of Terre Haute, IL, Brett (Marianne) Pence of Prairie City, IL, Kyle Ott of Burlington, IA, one daughter, Hillary (Brock) Heap of Biggsville, IL, nine grandchildren, Mikayla, Katelyn, Hunter, Bryanna, Briella, Lainey, Elliott, Callahan, and Quincy, four sisters, Sally (Kevin) Six of Dallas City, IL, Terri Booze of Portland, OR, Pam (Ron) Johnson of Burlington, IA, Patty Pence of Lomax, IL, and one brother, Wade (Carol) Brewer of Danville, IA.  He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Pence, and one sister, Peggy Myers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City.  The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23rd at Banks & Beals, with Pastor Jason Unzicker officiating.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  Interment of ashes will be in the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax, at a later date.  Memorials have been established for Henderson County Hospice and the Lomax Boat Landing.  Please visit Mike’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to leave a condolence.
