Ms. Minnie Bell Brown, 73, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 12:44 pm Sunday, May 11, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Minnie was born October 24, 1951, in West Point, Mississippi, the daughter of William Fred and Minnie M. (Tallie) Brown.

Left to cherish Minnies’ memories are her children, Sonya (Greg Sr.) Vickers, of Galesburg and Jason (McKenzie) Brown, Sr of Colorado; her sister, Mattie L. Brown of Chicago, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren, Antoinette, Jovan (Shawnna), Timothy, Antonio, Sharquita, Solomon, Gregory, Jr. (Kaylyn), Martina, Jason, Jr., Astin, Lennex, Delance, Ashley (Robbie), Ebony (Brandon), Gavin, Jalen, Bailee and Jerrick and twenty five great grandchildren and her very dear friend, Kathy Carson who was always there to lend a helping hand. She is preceded in death by her father, William F. Brown, her mother, Minnie M. Hylton, her daughter, Kartina L. Brown in 2004, her brother, Jimmie Lee Tallie and her sister, Albelene Felton.

Minnie worked in the meat department for the East Main Hy Vee Food Store, Galesburg, for twenty-four years from 1998, retiring in 2022. Minnie had also worked at Andrew’s Lounge as a bar maid for many years. She had a love for completing crossword puzzles and playing games on her tablet. Minnie knew her way around the kitchen, and was known for her cornbread stuffing, country fried chicken and greens with turnip bottoms. She enjoyed feeding her friends and family on any occasion. Minnie had a green thumb and loved to plant her flowers every year outside her home.

Minnie was devoted member of the Second Baptist Church and volunteered her time on the kitchen committee.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am at the chapel with Rev. Tammie Miller officiating. Memorials may be offered to her family to establish a memorial fund in her name at a later date.
