Larry J. Shaw, 79, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA. 

Larry was born on April 7, 1946 in Monmouth, the son of Paul and Doris (Carns) Shaw.  He was raised on the family farm west of Little York.  He graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1964 and continued his education at William Jewell College, Liberty, MO

Larry was first married to Diana Gates and later to Nancy Shaub Buckert.  Larry’s long and successful career in real estate from the 1980’s until the present was in Iowa City, the San Francisco Bay area, and Mel Foster Co. in Galesburg.  From 2013 until the present, Larry had his own real estate company, Larry Shaw Real Estate.  He took pride in finding a home for first time home buyers and those looking for their dream home.  From 1987 until 2001, Larry was a truck driver for Walmart and other companies.  It was a career filled with memories like meeting county music stars at truck stops in the south and delivering train wheels from Keokuk, IA manufacturing plant to the docks of New York City.   

Larry will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.  He is survived by his son, Dan and daughter-in-law, Ann; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Angie; brother, Bill (Margaret) Shaw; sister, Bonna (Bill) White; and his best friend of 46 years, Dennis Henry, and Scooter Dog, a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier that he loved so much. 

A private graveside service will be at Rozetta Cemetery, Rozetta, IL.  Memorials can be made to the Larry Shaw Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.   For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
