Galesburg Fire Crews Respond to Two Weekend Structure Fires

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire at Midstate Manufacturing Company, 750 W. Third Street, the afternoon of Friday, September 12, 2025, at 2:15 p.m. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke emanating from a structure within the plant. Battalion Chief Dewey Brackett established command, and the Central Station fire crew made an initial attack with a hose line and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

An emergency callback of off-duty personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage to the city.


The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1357 Willard Street on, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:12 PM. The structure involved was a detached garage. The response included all three fire stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, personnel encountered a garage with heavy fire and smoke showing. Acting Battalion Chief Matt Lewis established command, and the Fremont Street fire crew utilized an attack hose line to extinguish the fire. No injuries to fire personnel were reported. A resident was treated on scene by GHAS for a burn to his leg and for smoke inhalation.

Galesburg Fire Department fire investigators determined the fire was accidental.
