Since the purchase of their brand-new Fire Safety Simulation Trailer, made possible by a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from FEMA, the Monmouth Fire Department was able to use remaining funds to install an LED sign to display fire safety messages outside the station, informs Fire Chief Casey Rexroat:

“The way FEMA does it, they allow you if you have excess funding, you can use it for other things as long as they go toward the same purpose. So, we thought it would be great for our fire department to have a new sign out front of the fire station with LED message boards so we can build fire safety messages in that fashion. We got approval from FEMA to do that and put fire safety messages on there.”

Additionally, Chief Rexroat informs the Monmouth Fire Department is now fully staffed with the hiring of Schuyler Melton and Lucas Potter, who are both at fire academy training at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign.
