Story
Drew Cole, a 2012 Monmouth-Roseville High School graduate and former three-sport standout for the Titans, is entering his fourth season with the Illinois State Redbird women’s basketball team and was recently promoted to General Manager of the program. Cole and the Redbirds are coming off their best season yet, as the women advanced to the Final Four of the Women’s NIT Tournament in 2024. With NIL money and the transfer portal recently being a vital part of college athletics, especially in the recruiting of student-athletes, Cole gives some insight into the current landscape of intercollegiate sports.
Coach Cole and the Redbirds have started official practice, with their first game action of the year just over a month away. They will host Illinois Wesleyan University on October 26 for an exhibition game. The game is a true cross-town matchup between the two Bloomington-Normal schools.
