Barbara Ann Dean, 73, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at her home. She was born January 22, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Rev. James C. and Anne (Ziegler) Crangle. She was raised and educated in Rock Falls and Kirkwood, IL and graduated from Kirkwood High School.
Barbara married Byron Dean on April 24, 1999 and he preceded her in death.
After her mother’s death her father married again to Barbara (Nelson) Crangle and she gained a brother and sister. Those left to cherish her memory are; step-siblings, Kathi (Jeff) Barnes and family, Doug (Marcia) Nelson and family, and many cousins.
Before retirement Barb worked at various jobs, her most recent was at the Monmouth Dairy Queen. She was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church, where her father was a former pastor, and she loved her God. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies, and loved animals. During her lifetime she always had a pet, her most recent, her beloved cat Ollie.
Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial graveside service to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Friends and family are invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be made to Coldbrook Christian Church or Quad City Animal Welfare Center and left in the care of the funeral home.
