The Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program offers free breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams, and pap tests to eligible women. Knox County Health Department Director of Public Information and Community Engagement Erin Olson shares insight to those who are eligible for these services:
“You must be without insurance or your insurance that doesn’t cover a breast or cervical cancer screening. So, maybe it covers your screenings first, but maybe then you get called back for a second time for something more diagnostic, you can still come in and fill out that paperwork to get the assistance for this grant. It is between the ages of 40 and 65 for your breast exam and your mammograms and for those between 21 and 64 for the pap and the pelvic exams for that cervical cancer.”
The Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program benefits are available to those in Knox, Warren, and Henderson Counties.
