Local Students Explore Trades & Manufacturing Opportunities During GAVC’s Showcase Event

Share

This Thursday, October 23rd, the Galesburg Area Vocational Center, located at 940 West Fremont Street, will host their annual Manufacturing and Trades Showcase from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Regional Office of Education #33 Director of Career and Technical Education Kathy Wight shares this is a great way for students to interact with professionals:

“The focus really is on those trades. Whether it is construction, welding, or CNC machining, automotive; all of those hands-on trades that may only require a certification. They might be able to go right out of high school, so we go and really try to engage the students to help them figure out with they want to be.”

Over 40 industries will be on-hand to share their programs and opportunities with local students interested in learning more about manufacturing and trades programs after high school.
