The Monmouth College Fighting Scots fall to Saint Johns (Minn) in a snowfall in Collegeville, Minnesota. The Scots trailed 21-9 at the half and eventually lose 49-15 in the second round of the NCAA Division 3 playoffs. Saint Johns out gained Monmouth 551-430 in total yards. Monmouth moved the football up and down the field all day but had trouble finishing drives, going 1-for-3 in the Johnnies’ red zone. Saint Johns, on the other hand, went 5-for-7 from inside the Scots 20 yard line.
Leading the offense for Monmouth was senior quarterback Brayden Deem. In Deem’s final game for the Scots, he threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Nate Wrublick ran for 78 yards on 18 carries. Deem spread the ball around, hitting six different receivers in the game, led by Chase Newman’s 107 yards. Jeremiah Williams caught five balls for 93 yards and a touchdown. Julian Samuels caught the second touchdown pass from Deem.
The Scots end the season at (9-2) with both losses coming to top-10 teams in the country. Besides the loss to #7 Saint Johns, Monmouth lost the season opener to #6 Wartburg.
