On December 15, 2025, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian in Oquawka. Oquawka Ambulance, the Oquawka Fire Protection District, Burlington Fire Paramedics, and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
Upon investigation, it was determined that a female juvenile had exited a vehicle and was struck by a red Pontiac G6. The vehicle from which the juvenile exited was also hit. The juvenile was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Deputies attempted to locate the suspect vehicle in the area, and the Illinois State Police (ISP) was requested to assist in the investigation. Deputies later located the suspect vehicle, and the driver, Brittany J. Barron, subsequently admitted involvement in the accident.
The driver, Brittany J. Barron, age 30, of Oquawka, Illinois, was cited and charged.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
