Triple A projects around 119 million people will be taking to the roadways, skies, and even cruises between December 21st and January 1st. Whether you are taking a long vacation or just visiting family this holiday season, remember to lock everything and even have a neighbor stop by to check on things, says Monmouth Police Officer Gara Huston:
“You should always lock your doors. Make sure everything is locked up. If you do have anybody that can come check on the house once a day, that is always a good thing. I do see a lot of people that are starting to use timed lights that way you can set your lights on alternating times. It is always a good thing to have cameras too, just to be as secure as you can and as safe as you can and try to keep everything locked up. Cameras are great, doorbell cameras are great, just anything you can do to give yourself a little bit more peace of mind is always suggested.”
As an added security measure, try to avoid posting on social media while you are away, so you aren’t drawing attention to the fact you are out of town.
