TRAC West Showdown Still On as Titans Host Riverdale Tonight

Share

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans and Riverdale Rams will battle through the frigid conditions tonight, as the TRAC West matchup at the Shoebox is still on with a 7 o’clock tip.

Monmouth-Roseville enters the night coming off back-to-back losses, most recently a 45-43 defeat to Dunlap on Wednesday. The Titans come in at 7-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play, looking to leapfrog Riverdale, who sits at 2-3 in the TRAC West.

Despite being shorthanded with their starting point guard sidelined, Head Coach Chuck Grant says he’s happy with the way his team continues to compete.

“Overall we’re playing well. It’s a tough adjustment when you lose your point guard, and I think the kids have done a good job of rallying around it.

Dunlap put on some extremely good pressure against us the other night. There were times we didn’t have the ball in the right hand, but as the game went on the kids adjusted and had an opportunity to win, but just fell short.

We’re going to keep giving ourselves a chance to win some more ball games, and we’ll find a way. Nice stretch of games coming up here, with a good Riverdale team tonight, Geneseo tomorrow night, Mercer County next week, and [Peoria] Manual. We’ve got some really good games in front of us.

Hopefully we can get healthy and continue to find a way to be that ball club that can go win a regional title.”

Tipoff tonight is set for 7 o’clock at the Shoebox. The game will be broadcast live on Sunny 97.7 and online at radiomonmouth.com, with pregame coverage beginning following the JV game around 6:30.

The Titans will be right back in action tomorrow night, returning to the Shoebox for a 5:30 tip against Geneseo. Pregame coverage for that one will begin after the JV game around 5 o’clock.
