With the cost of Ameren utility bills for customers these days, City of Monmouth Director of Operations Ken Helms reminds residents to check their bills to make sure the municipal aggregation rate is applied:
“The number one thing that we can do as a municipality to help people when it comes to their electrical rates specifically is double check your bill and make sure that you are getting the municipal aggregation rate. That is something that was passed by referendum quite a few years ago. That allows the City to negotiate for collective rates. We basically go in with a number of other different municipalities and negotiate for the lowest rates that we can get. There is usually a huge savings over the Ameren standard rate. Just check your Ameren bill and make sure you are getting that municipal aggregation rate.”
The current municipal aggregation rate for City of Monmouth residents through May of 2027 with Homefield Energy is 11.78 cents per kilowatt-hour.
