The United School District will be adopting a new math curriculum for their elementary students that is currently being used in local school districts such as Galesburg. Superintendent Tom Hawkins explains the transition:

“The math curriculum we had was started back in 2015, so it is a little dated and we were starting to lose access of resources. So, we thought it was time for a change. Our teachers went out and researched multiple different curriculums and narrowed it down. They were looking for ways to just got take visits and they actually took time to go visit other districts that were in the process of using this program that we moved to and looks like we are going to move forward with a math curriculum for our elementary called ‘Bridges.’ I know that Galesburg has a lot of success in that right now and other area districts too.”

According to the website, The Math Learning Center, — Bridge In Mathematics equips teachers to implement Common Core State Standards for math. This is a PK–5 curriculum offering a unique blend of problem solving and skill building.
